In my ever lasting hunger to explore the web on possibilities  of how to change education and the importance of visuals and visual thinking in our modern society. One that is changing rapidly, every generation more adapted to our digital innovations than the former, while education is lagging behind. I came across a 2005 whitepaper that is stating exactly what I think is so true

-“Although visuals and media have become ubiquitous in our society during the 21st century, words and text still dominate literacy efforts within education. The reality is that visual literacy is often considered trivial, transitory, or even non academic. Visual literacy is outside any mainstream literacy curriculum taught only in specialized courses in disciplines such as art and architecture”

The paper explores the meaning of visual literacy as well as the possibilites of integrating visual literacy effectively in our educational system. Absolutely worth the read.
