Sketching in front of the fireplace; iPad doodle

Saturday afternoon, rainy, almost dark. Fire burning in the fireplace, wine, all my favorite pens and my moleskine. Still felt like doing a fast doodle on my iPad. Here it is.

Late night iPad doodle

With my iPad on the couch, just before I decide to go to bed. I love that time, silent house, nothing but my thoughts, the best time to think and doodle.

@wilg

I received my new stylus for the iPad yesterday and  I had to try out some drawing styles right away to feel if it made any difference with my old and simple stylus. I will let you know what I think soon. But I do know that, apart from my moleskine drawings, iPad doodles are [...]

Laying down in knee-high grass

Yesterday I was walking in knee-high grass full of all sorts of flowers waving softly in the wind. I decided to literally drop down at the spot and layed there looking at the sky, listening to the soft sounds around me…

France changing landscapes

On the way home through France just below Lyon, our next stop. Mountains fading in the distance.. Smell of fresh summer rain washed away by the strong sun.

Italian coast

Rough edges with houses miraculously attached here and there, the Ligurian coast.. I have this drawing and a collection of pebbles to take me back every now and than.

After summer rain

Quick drawing of the Dutch polder after a good summer rain storm on my way to my parents. Love the simple dark but bright colours, so I kept it simple.

Pale winter sun

I love the pale winterblue skies, with the faint orange as the sun sets in the late afternoon. Makes me take of my gloves and shoot pictures untill my fingers go numb.

The future in our backpockets, momo 11

Monday turned in a great mobile monday this 1st of June. The momoams 11 with a whole range of first class speakers and their view on the future of mobile. Wether it be marketing or advertising or how the mobile will shape the web the message was clear. We need to act now in order to take this future in our own hands, to shape it into something good for all of us.

The making of… a sketchnote, wilg's story

Posted by wilgengebroed On May - 11 - 2009 ADD COMMENTS

3447127111 b18ef1dc9f The making of... a sketchnote, wilg's story How do you make them.. ? Why do you make them..? How long does it take..? Many have approached me to aks these questions. So I have decided to write a post to try and explain. Sketchnotes, the making of..

The why is easy, my notes have always been in sketches, quotes and nodes to make connections or draw relations. It makes me remember things more easy. When it proofed helpful to others I simple gave some more attention to them so that others would be able to read them as well.

The how takes a bit more explaining. They are not just sketches, neither just notes. A sketchnote takes me as long as the speaker is talking. I listen to the story and make it my own. My interpretation and all what I pick up while listening will appear on paper.. In every sketchnote I usually pick up on insights or relations. I sometimes even relate outside the speakers story, just because this is how my mind works. In a way every sketchnote is my version of a blogpost of a presentation all wrapped up in one drawing.

I enjoy making sketchnotes when passionate speakers speak about things I relate to. So web and social media is my favorite subject. I relate and understand this. So I can make connections and insights. Sketching The Wext Web ’09 in Amsterdam was a great thing to do. And judging on Boris’s Flickr stats (where my skethcnotes where posted) -as well as my own- other enjoyed them too! I’ll just keep on sketchnoting, hoping others will keep enjoying them. So that one day, I’ll be the official sketchnoter for Leweb in Paris. Or other big influential conferences. Making me a very happy sketching @wilg!

“Dare to be different” in een ander jasje. Ze zetten vraagtekens bij huidige conventies in software design en gebruik; “They should let fowa notes contrast and blaine1 300x241 Fowa Dublintheir brand be good software.”, en ” let us own the software we bought.”

Next up is Robin Christopherson.

Reality hits me. Ineens zie ik sites met drie grote knoppen: Visual, Text, Audio… forming the info the way you want it. Of een alternatieve feed, waar RSS audio is. Dazzling insights.

De dag wordt afgesloten door the world according to David H. Hansson. ” Fuck the real world” . Zijn visie op een succesvolle start up, die we geen start up mogen noemen maar een business, is vooral uitvoering, fowa notes david h 188x300 Fowa Dublin doorzettingsvermogen en ‘simpel’. Maar denk er aan; het is “pretty hard to do, simple!”.
