The moon over a beautiful sunny and very Dutch snowskape, the icey ‘polder’ whilst skating on a ‘sloot’
Just a doodle while enjoying the fire, red wine and a fine saturday evening at home. Sometimes that’s all I need.
Waiting out the blizzard in front of the fireplace in Tigne, France. Had some excellent days of skiing just before.
Saturday afternoon, rainy, almost dark. Fire burning in the fireplace, wine, all my favorite pens and my moleskine. Still felt like doing a fast doodle on my iPad. Here it is.
With my iPad on the couch, just before I decide to go to bed. I love that time, silent house, nothing but my thoughts, the best time to think and doodle.
This week’s iPad doodle; #Apple #iCloud #walled garden. A beautiful garden that is, but one that is hard to leave once you’re in.
I received my new stylus for the iPad yesterday and I had to try out some drawing styles right away to feel if it made any difference with my old and simple stylus. I will let you know what I think soon. But I do know that, apart from my moleskine drawings, iPad doodles are [...]
I love the summer, eating fresh berries whenever I want.. This lot is my desert today
Yesterday I was walking in knee-high grass full of all sorts of flowers waving softly in the wind. I decided to literally drop down at the spot and layed there looking at the sky, listening to the soft sounds around me…
I usually share what inspires me, my work, or insights. This time I decided to be inspired. By everything I am surounded by, and immersed in every day. Everything that helps me inspire and share. This is the result! So pleased with it I installed it as wallpaper. Click here for a bigger version
Since I promised I would upload the pictures of my Rome trip later; here is one of my favorites. You can find my other Rome pictures here
On a personal note.. we spend the weekend in beautiful Rome. A wonderfull city with ancient treasures around every corner. Ofcourse I will upload my pictures to Flickr soon, but here’s an impression.
On the way home through France just below Lyon, our next stop. Mountains fading in the distance.. Smell of fresh summer rain washed away by the strong sun.
Rough edges with houses miraculously attached here and there, the Ligurian coast.. I have this drawing and a collection of pebbles to take me back every now and than.
Quick drawing of the Dutch polder after a good summer rain storm on my way to my parents. Love the simple dark but bright colours, so I kept it simple.
I love the pale winterblue skies, with the faint orange as the sun sets in the late afternoon. Makes me take of my gloves and shoot pictures untill my fingers go numb.
On a sunny sunday shopping in Antwerp.. with lots of coffee and chocolate. Click for bigger version
Whilst sitting and waiting on a very busy museum sunday. The kids wondering of and coming back doing science projects all afternoon at the “science festival” I had this magnificent view on the Amstel and Amsteram
Spending a very relaxing evening… “met mintnopjes’ can really keep this up for hours, blogging, reading, watching, drawing, tweeting, … on the couch with my favorite screens..
Went to the local memorial today.. May 4th 2009. Just to be silent with others. Watching listening always feels special.

Yesterday I attended Gamehub, a Belgian initiative to act as an incubator for the Gameindustry and talent in Belgium. It is a 2 year project with the cooperation of Higher Education and University (Provinciale Hogeschool Limburg (PHL), Universiteit Hasselt, Katholieke Hogeschool Limburg and GROEP T Internationale Hogeschool Leuven) as well as European and National funds. They tried to bring together business and talent as well as Belgium game studio’s. Although the turn-up of business related attendees was not too big, it was a very interesting day with regard to showcasing fruitful and innovative projects that flourish in the tiny country of Belgium. Good to see the cooperation of governments and Educators in this long-term project investing in their knowledge economy trying to keep talent and creativity on board. For a quick overview of the speakers and their presentations you can see my sketchnotes here. The afternoon was packed with hands-on in depth workshops, from stopmotion animation to game based learning. Thanks for having me guys.
Fast moving Targets is an initiative from Erwin Blom and Wessel de Valk, who wanted to create a crossmedia platform about technology, innovation, communication and media. Their goal is to inform, detect and show what is going on around us, not only for us as users, but also with us as users.

I’ve been using Google+ for a while now and I am absolutely loving it. It has openness en collaboration, it has the same easy commenting structure FriendFeed used to have in the early days, and somehow for me it feels more natural to use than Facebook. But that doesn’t mean that the two can’t co-excist. There is a lot of debate going on on Google+, will it win from Facebook, will it win from Twitter. I don’t know if it needs to.

I’ve been trying out the new Google+ for about a week now. At first I was a bit sceptic, the buzz was there, everyone wanting an invite felt a bit like both the Wave and the Buzz introduction. Look how that turned out. So I approached with some aloofness; just another Facebook look-alike, even the ‘stream’ and +1 stead of ‘like’. Still I started playing with it for a bit. The ‘circles’, that proof to actually work very efficient. Checking out the ‘picture’ part. The ‘hangout’, which is a Google-talk feature that lets you video chat with groups of friends. Sparks, that I am not really sure about yet . Than I realized, this is much more than just another Facebook look-alike. This is Google tying together the web. They already had all the good services that I use every single day in place. Now they are tying it together with a solid social addition that looks good and is integrated in all of their existing services.

So here it is, the visual resume that I made for Mireille Hoogerbeets, to add to her traditional profiles both on – and offline. Featuring her skills and personality rather than her education and work history.
Fast Moving Targets is a new platform on innovation, media, communication and what not. The platform is still a work in progress but a blog is already online and the first live webcast interviews have been broadcasted and others will follow (follow @fastmoving).

-”Are they felt tip?” -”What brand pens do you use?” I get asked these questions a lot. And I am always happy to answer them, though the answer depends on what I have with me at the moment, it being my Faber-Castell brush tips, my Pigma Micron Pens, my Stabilo’s or even just round tip Edding whiteboard markers. It’s the situation that calls for certain pens, but only because they feel ‘comfortable’ or suit the medium. Not because they make me draw better.
As a visual communications specialist, the only natural way to write a resume, seems to be drawing one instead.
